Help Logging in to BRC Online
0. Do I have an account in BRC Online?
Also, if you just enrolled "today," you will not have an account in BRC Online until "tomorrow." Likewise, if you have been on a waiting list and are officially admitted to the program "today," you may not have an active account until "tomorrow."
1. Where do I login to see my course materials and take quizzes?
You can follow this link to view course materials, take quizzes, etc. at BRC Online: http://www.bostonreedcollege.com/online/login/index.php
(You might want to bookmark the link.)
If you wish to view your fee payment records, use the same username and password in this location: https://secure.bostonreedcollege.com/myaccount/login.cfm
2. How do I get my username and password?
Students, if you enrolled online at www.bostonreedcollege.com, the username and password you created in that process also works for logging in to BRC Online.
If you did not create yourself a username and password, our systems have created one for you. If we have an email address on file for you, you can retrieve your username and password by email. Retrieve your username. http://www.bostonreedcollege.com/enrollnow/retrieve_username.cfm
If we do not have your email address, or the email retrieval fails for some other reason, you may phone us at 800.201.1141 for assistance.
3. I followed the links to the BRC Online login page, but I did not see how to log in?
You should see a page that looks like this:
However, we have found that some web browsers are not compatible with our system. Some users of very old web browsers such as Internet Explorer 6 (released in 1991) see a login page that is mostly empty, the Boston Reed banner at the top, but no fields for entering username and password. If that is your experience, we must recommend you try one of these options:
4. I enter my username and password, but I get a message, “Invalid login, please try again.” What should I do?
Confirm you are entering the username and password correctly. The Caps Lock key can sometimes interfere. The Num Lock key (near the numeric keypad on the right end of your keyboard) can also result in mis-entered numbers.
Sometimes, especially with Internet Explorer, completely closing your web browser and then restarting it can make a difference. If you have confirmed your username and password with our staff, please try this: quit Internet Explorer, open Internet Explorer, and try logging in again. (Internet Explorer seems to get "clogged" after a few login attempts, such that even correct usernames and passwords are rejected.)
There have been users of Internet Explorer who entered username and password correctly but could not login until after entirely restarting the computer.
Also, if you just enrolled "today," you will not have an account in BRC Online until "tomorrow." Likewise, if you have been on a waiting list and are officially admitted to the program "today," you may not have an active account until "tomorrow."If your program is not using BRC Online, you will not have an account in BRC Online. Programs currently using BRC Online are listed in topic 0.
5. I enter my username and password and click the Login button. I get the message, “Unfortunately, cookies are currently not enabled in your browser.” What’s up?
You need to enable cookies in your browser. Please see this explanation of cookies and directions for enabling cookies. (This article is from Google, about enabling cookies for Google accounts, but the information applies equally to BRC Online.)
6. I enter my username and password and click the Login button. Then my username and password disappear. Nothing happens. What’s up?
Sometimes Internet Explorer does this after one or more failed attempts to login. Try closing all windows of Internet Explorer and restarting Internet Explorer. We don't believe we have seen this behavior with browsers besides Internet Explorer.
Occasionally some users experience this when they do not have cookies enabled. See Question 5 above.
Sometimes this happens when cookies are enabled. In that case, deleting the cookies may enable you to login. How to delete cookies.
7. How will I know when I have successfully logged in?
You will see words in the top right, "You are logged in as [Your Name]." The bottom of the page has an area labeled "My Courses."
Click on the number for your course to enter your course.
