Program Summary
This 96-hour Administrative Medical Assistant Training Program combines theory and practical instruction over 17 weeks. Topics are covered through a combination of lecture and practical skill training. Course instruction includes: Telephone and Computer skills, Appointment Scheduling, Medical Record Handling, Filing and Billing, Insurance Coding, Transcription and General Office Etiquette. Health services is one of the largest industries in the country, with about 11.3 million jobs, including the self-employed. About 14 percent of all wage and salary jobs created between 1998 and 2008 will be in health services.
Recognition
This program satisfies all training guidelines established by the California Certifying Board for Medical Assistants (CCBMA) and graduates will be qualified to apply for optional CCBMA Certification for Administrative Medical Assistants
Instructional Format
96 hours of classroom based instruction.
Prerequisites
There are no minimum state requirements for enrollment. We recommend that students are at least 18 years of age and have earned a high school diploma or its equivalent.
English and Math Prescreening
You will be required to pass an English language and math prescreening prior to final admittance into any course. This prescreening will be administered on the first day of class. The prescreening covers basic English language reading and comprehension as well as basic math (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, fractions, decimals and percentages). See sample prescreening assessments. If the applicant does not pass the exam they can request a refund of the 100% of fees paid. This refund will be processed within 7 business days from the first day of the course.
